Using The Spire

The Spire is fully licensed and available to hire throughout the year however, the lack of a heating system means that for some users the autumn and winter months it may not be a suitable space.

The main space is large and flexible (approx 15m x 27m) and able to accommodate a range of performance disciplines and event types. The Spire also has a number of smaller spaces including the South Transept ( approx 9m x 6m), which contains a bar setup and the Vestry (approx 6m x 3.5m).

In recent years the venue has been used for the following:

  • Theatre, circus and dance rehearsals and development
  • Concerts and gigs
  • Week long workshop series
  • Festivals
  • Large-scale installations and exhibitions
  • Wedding celebrations
  • Private parties
  • Product launches
  • Music video shoots
  • Fashion shows

Please contact us for more details and to discuss hire rates.

Due to the size and running costs of the Spire it is not currently appropriate for weekly classes (e.g. yoga and dance), children’s parties/creches, band rehearsals or groups hiring by the hour. We recommend contacting our neighbours at stgeorgesbrighton.org who might be able to help.

Here is a BBC Arts video of The Spire when it was home to Lou Reed’s Drones during Brighton Festival 2016.
